Spreading the Dharma through the teachings of the Eternal Buddha found in the Lotus Sutra. Following the teaching of the Eternal Buddha and Nichiren Shonin the members of the Charlotte Sangha of Nichiren Shu wish to enable all people to attain enlightenment.
This statue is dedicated to the Nichiren Shu priest who was severely tortured and persecuted for his faith and practice of Nichiren Buddhism. Among other things he had a heated metal cauldron put on his head and his tongue cut out.
